D.B. and K.V.

D.B. is a woman who needed surgery on a deep facial nerve.

K.V. is a woman in her early 40’s ready to undergo a hysterectomy due to a tumor found after symptoms of unusual bleeding prompted a visit to her physician.

Both women had had full evaluations by their specialists and were anticipating surgery in the upcoming 2 weeks. They were seen separately, but their cases had several similarities.

In each woman’s case we worked through ways to optimize nutrition prior to the procedures and evaluated dietary supplements they were using to be sure they would not cause unwanted side effects before or after the surgery.

Each woman identified their main goals for the visit and their definition of a successful outcome of the surgery. One of the women considered pain management to be key, and the other considered a strong convalescence a priority.

Both women learned self-hypnosis in the first visit. I also prepared a personalized CD they could use for pre-surgery preparation, and management of any fear and stress that arose. The second part of the CD addressed physical changes that would occur during the actual surgery, and how they could assist the surgical team even though they were under anesthesia. The final part of the CD related to pain management, healing, and convalescence.

Both women came through their procedures extremely well, and received enthusiastic feedback from their medical teams about how well they did in surgery and their rapid recovery times.
